Abraham Greenwood was born in 1816. In 1851 the family lived at Wood Lane, Sowerby near Halifax,  Abraham was an Agricultural Worker.  In 1861 he was a farmer living at Upper Hullen Edge, Norland, with his wife Hannah and their three children.
William b.1842.  David b.1844.  Grace b.1849. 
William was a stoker, David was a Mechanic and Grace who was twelve years old was a Woollen Saver.

In 1868 David married Elizabeth Whitworth in Rochdale.  Elizabeth was born in Spotland which is an area of Rochdale.   In 1881 David and Elizabeth had moved to 123 St. Stephens Street, Copley near Halifax. At this time they had five children.
John W  b.1869   Ann E  b.1871   Natalia b.1874   Fairburn  b.1876  Lily E   b.1879.
David was employed as an Engine Smith at the Corn Mill.   John was born in Spotland, Lancashire but the other children had been born locally.  Their sixth child, Lucy Ellen, was born in 1881.  In 1901 the Greenwood family was still living at St Stephen's Street, Copley but John William had died on 11th September 1887 aged 18 and Fairburn died on 14th July 1905 aged 29.
On 7th June 1910 Lucy Ellen, along with Alice Schofield, the sister of John Thomas Schofield of 103 Railway Terrace, Copley and Ellen Dilley (nee Davies the half sister of John Thomas Schofield, and her young son, sailed from Liverpool to Boston Massachusetts USA on the SS Saxonia. 

John Thomas Schofield of 103 Railway Terrace, Copley had sailed for Boston on 17th Apri 1909.
The SS Saxonia was due to arrive in Boston on 26th June 1910.  Lucy and John Thomas were married at Christ Chrch, Fitchburg, Massachusetts on Monday 27th June 1910.  Doris May was born on 11.10.1911 in Fitchburg. John Thomas and Lucy Ellen later travelled to Manitoba, Canada where they ran three General Timber Stores.  They had three children.
